There are lots of foods out there that have been shown to improve sexual function. You could call them all aphrodisiacs, but many don’t necessarily turn you on as much as help you get it on. Erectile Disfunction is a huge problem, and many people think it’s just what happens as you age. But is age the reason?
It is true that testosterone levels go down in men as they age as well as estrogen and testosterone levels in women, so you could say that with fewer hormones your libido should naturally drop. While getting turned on helps get you hard, those two things don’t necessarily go together. You can be as randy as a goat, look down, and find that nothing’s looking back. I’m not just talking penis here — although the clitoris typically can only stare back at you if you are squatting over a mirror. So why the droop?
Medications, as I’ve mentioned in the past, can have a very disappointing effect on your sex life. You need good blood flow to get it up — after all that’s what a hard on is, increased blood to the penis or the clitoris. That’s one reason to get a cock ring. You put it on while on the limp side and then when the penis hardens the ring traps the blood in the penis and keeps it up, for a while. Safety note: Cock rings that are fixed (in other words, that do not give) are NOT for the inexperienced or faint hearted. Don’t put stainless steel around your dick unless you know exactly what you are doing and are prepared to visit the ER to have it cut off. The stainless steel, not the dick, hopefully.
Anyway, I’m reading this great book, How Not To Die, by Dr. Micheal Greger — a real eye opener. I recommend this book to absolutely everyone. My grandmother”s cardiologist recommended it to her. While he isn’t the first I’ve seen mention it, the book is a great resource. In the chapter,
“How Not to Die from Heart Disease,” he talks about the importance of nitric oxide in your blood. Why, you ask, is that so important? Because nitric oxide helps the muscles in the penis and the vulva relax, therefore allowing the blood to flow in in greater quantities. Antioxidants can help the body produce nitric oxide, so eat your spices and berries!! And exercise, even walking the block in your neighborhood, helps improve blood flow which can only help send signals to the penis and the clitoris to pump up. But, we cannot omit the ever-important nitrate-rich vegetables that convert into nitric oxide in your body. Apparently the top ten vegetables highest in nitrates are: 10. Beets, 9. Swiss Chard, 8. Oak Leaf Lettuce, 7. Beet Greens, 6. Basil, 5. Mesclun Greens, 4. Butter Leaf Lettuce, 3. Cilantro, 2. Rhubarb, 1. Arugula
Will it happen over night? Probably not. But how about starting you foreplay off right by having a big juicy salad for dinner followed by a walk around the block?

P.S. If you are experiencing ED see a doctor! Incorporating more vegetables into your diet is a win win, but you must get yourself properly checked out.
